What is a Golf Scramble?

In a golf scramble everyone plays from the spot of the best shot, putting the emphasis on fun rather than pure individual scores. Using teams of four, each player tees off at each hole, but everyone plays from the spot of the best shot. This means the game moves fast and puts less pressure on less experienced golfers.   Competition between teams remains steep and to maintain an even playing pitch each player must have three of their tee off shots recorded.

Central to scramble is the shot gun start where there is one team at each of the 18 holes.

The best shot is chosen by consensus amongst the team, normally the drive that lands furthest along the fairway. Once the spot is marked all the other players pick up their walls and take their shot from within one club length. This process of selecting the best shot as the starting point for the next shot continues until the ball is hit into the hole. The team score is the total of the best shots.
